Polyurethane hoses

Suction hoses take part in most industries. In most industrial factories processes require transfer of liquid and solid (abrasive) materials. Suction hoses are used primarily to transport particles, as well as for useless and polluting so for transfer of final products and substances in the food, processing and other industries.

The application of suction hoses required to be produced by a robust and flexible material. Such a material for manufacturing suction hose is the polyurethane. The polyurethane is a polymer which is produced by izoamins and alcohols. In regard to hardness, the polyurethane is an intermediate solution between the rubber and PVC hoses. The polyurethane is much more durable than plastic and rubber, it has a good shock-resistance and is highly abrasion resistant.

The polyurethane in particular the polyurethane suction hoses are used in many areas such as:

  • pellet industry (pellet burners)
  • paper industry
  • construction industry
  • wood industry
  • woodworking industry
  • food industry
  • textile industry
  • pharmaceutical industry
  • ventilation systems

Since the polyurethane hose is more durable than the plastic and rubber hoses, the frequency with which it should be changed is reduced. This on other side leads to significant economic benefits.

It has been proved that the polyurethane hoses overmatch the conventional PVC and rubber hoses, in a ratio of about 8 to 1 in specific cases. The polyurethane hose is ideal for using under water as it is resistant to fungus, mold and mildew.

Since the presentation of the polyurethane as a component, its distribution on the market is increasing rapidly, today's polyols such as polyurethane are attracting more and more the attention of the business toward itself.

The application of the polyurethane hoses in the pellet and woodworking industry consists mainly in removal of chips, dust or other polluting particles. During the running of the pellet burners, the polyurethane hose is used for suction and transport of the pellets to the burner chamber compartment as the polyurethane has excellent resistance to temperatures (up to 80°C for dry air). Its flexibility allows more precise alignment of the burner relative to the outflow channel.

Due to its qualities - flexibility, shock resistance, air transportation in a wide range of temperatures(- 40°C to 80°C)    - the most wide-spread the suction hoses find in ventilation systems (air conditioners, aspirations, etc.).

With the variety of sizes, qualities and additional structural supplements, the polyurethane suction hoses are used both in small companies and also in many factories and corporate companies.

The polyurethane hoses displace the rubber hoses in many application areas due to their, dielectric nature, antistatic, radiation resistance, ozone and oil. This allows them to be placed or laid between the installation in the engine-rooms, where the conduct of the electricity is living decisive factor and abrasion and oils resistance contribute to their preferences to hoses made of another material.

In the food and pharmaceutical industries, except for the removal of harmful particles and gases, polyurethane hoses are used also for transmission of the products, bearing in mind non addition of recently flavors, their resistance to hydrolysis and microbes and their non-toxicity. Some types of polyurethane hoses are tested according to Food and Drugs Administration (Organization for Foods and Drugs) and European regulations and they are approved for direct use in the transportation of foodstuffs.

Briefly the advantages of the polyurethane suction hoses are:

  • excellent flexibility
  • shock and tearing resistance
  • good resistance to oil and petroleum products
  • high abrasion resistance
  • good wear resistance (long life)
  • good compressibility

      At special designs:

  • resistance tohydrolysisand microbes
  • non-toxicity
  • antistatic effect
  • fireproof effect
  • good operating temperature range
